GBEP Steering Committee

The Steering Committee governs the overall framework, policies, procedures and activities of the Partnership. It provides strategic guidance to the Partnership and periodically review the programme of collaborative activities undertaken by the Partnership, including a review of the organizational structure if necessary, and provide direction and instructions for actions to the Secretariat. Decisions on accepting new partners are taken by the Steering Committee.

The Committee meets usually once a year, at time and place to be determined by its appointed representatives.

Brazil and USA are the Co-Chairs of the Partnership.

Emily Marthaler

Emily Marthaler has been with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) since 2015, most recently serving as the agency’s lead for biofuels trade policy.  Prior to FAS, Emily was the deputy director of the Midwestern Governors Association (MGA) where she spearheaded regional efforts that included increasing the use and development of biofuels and renewable energy as well as transitioning the electric transmission sector.  Emily also led the development of governors’ recommendations on the Farm Bill, upholding the Renewable Fuels Standard, implementing E15, as well as worked to develop a framework on a low-carbon fuel standard. 

Emily received bachelor degrees in political science and economics and a master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University.
