Transport and environment: on the way to a new common transport policy

Feb 2007

The main aim of TERM is to monitor the progress and effectiveness of transport and environment integration strategies on the basis of a core set of indicators.
The objective of the report is to indicate some of the main challenges to reducing the environmental impacts of transport and to making suggestions to improve the environmental performance of the transport system as a whole. This report represents a summary of seven selected issues from the EEA TERM (Transport and Environment Reporting Mechanism) set of transport and environment integration indicators.
These issues are derived partly from the policy questions that form the backbone of TERM and partly from other on-‑going projects at the EEA. As with previous TERM reports, this report evaluates the indicator trends with respect to progress towards existing objectives and targets from EU policy documents as well as various transport and environmental directives.
