Secretariat
The GBEP Secretariat, hosted at FAO Headquarters in Rome, is the principal coordinator of the Partnership's communications and activities. The Secretariat is mainly supported by Italy and receives additional support, past and present, from Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, and UN FAO.

| Maria Michela Morese Executive Secretary Maria Michela Morese is the Manager of the GBEP Secretariat which is based at FAO Headquarters in Rome. She worked on the establishment of the Partnership since 2005. She is responsible for the overall GBEP project implementation as well as for the development of its programme of work. Previously she worked for six years for the Government of Italy as negotiator in various international environmental processes. Michela holds a degree in Political Science-International Relations and a post graduate certificate in International Protection of Fundamental Human Rights from La Sapienza University in Rome, as well as a Master in Environmental Governance and a PhD in Forest Ecology from La Tuscia University in Viterbo. Michela speaks Italian, English, French and some Spanish. michela.morese@fao.org

| Marco Colangeli Programme Adviser Mr. Colangeli joined the GBEP Secretariat in 2012. He is Programme Adviser assisting the GBEP Secretariat in the overall project implementation, with particular focus on activities related to the technical Task Forces and Working Group. marco.colangeli@fao.org

| Giovanna Pesci Communication and Events Adviser Ms Pesci is responsible for Communication and Events Management of the GBEP since 2008. She completed a degree in Political Science at La Sapienza University and a Masters course in Development Economics at the Tor Vergata University. giovanna.pesci@fao.org

| Irena Giorgis Administrative Assistant Irena has worked at FAO for 9 years, fulfilling a range of roles within TCE division. These included positions as assistant to the Executive Officer (TCES), as operations assistant for a variety of country desks including Iraq, DPRK and West Bank Gaza Strip, and in support of the Global Rinderpest Eradication Programme (GREP). Most recently, she has been performing the role of assistant to the Chief, TCER. irena.giorgis@fao.org

| Valeria Casavola Volunteer Ms. Casavola joined the GBEP Secretariat in 2013. She assists the GBEP Secretariat in research activities, including data collection and literature reviews, and in the preparation of documents related to the project on the implementation of GBEP indicators in Colombia and Indonesia. |
