Presentations of the new HLPE Reports “Biofuels and food security” & “Investing in small holder agriculture for food security” |
26 Jun 13 |
The High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) launches today its two new Reports prepared for the Committee on World Food Security (CFS). "Investing in small holder agriculture for food security": investment for agriculture and especially for smallholders is an absolute necessity. This requires first to agree on what is a smallholding then to envisage the future of smallholder agriculture, and understand their constraints to investments and ways to overcome them. "Biofuels and food security": biofuels are at the intersection of major global issues: energy, food, land and water use, and development. There are many publications on biofuels, but very few deal with their impacts on food security. This report covers the different perspectives and methodological approaches, makes several recommendations to the CFS Member and stakeholders. The proceedings will also be webstreamed live.
