Biofuels `top priority` for Fiji government-teams up with India and Brazil

Many of these island nations, in Pasific ocean, spend more than twice as much on imported oil as they do on health care. Fiji is endowed with a large potential for biodiesel production from coconut and palm oil and for ethanol from sugarcane and is one of the main beneficiaries of the EU's ACP sugar agreement, which provides preferential prices. Over 70% of Fijians are employed in agriculture.
