Colombia plans nine new biofuel plants by end of 2011

Nine new biofuel plants should come online in Colombia before the end of 2011, the presidential press office said in a statement, according to BNamericas. The new facilities include one biodiesel plant and eight new ethanol plants. Five biofuel plants began operations between 2008 and 2009, the statement said. Total production of biofuels should reach 486,000 tons per year in the country by the end of 2011, according to the statement.
