04 Jan 10

The Global Social Benefit Incubator (GSBIā„¢) is the signature program of Santa Clara University's Center for Science, Technology, and Society (CSTS).  The GSBI is a mentored, management training program, which empowers social entrepreneurs to develop financially sustainable and scalable organizations so that they can achieve significant impacts on important social problems.  Since 2003, 102 award-winning social enterprises have attended this program and become part of a growing network of path finding alumni for creating a more just and sustainable world.

Companies or non-profit organizations will have the opportunity to attend the GSBI, including four months e-learning from your Country and two-weeks intensive training at Santa Clara University, CA, USA.  While we seek organizations working in all market sectors (e.g. poverty reduction, health, equality and education), this year the GSBI will reserve up to 8 of the 20 scholarships for the GSBI for organizations focused on rural electrification. The energy sources can be solar, wind, solid biomass, biofuels, hydro, or other solutions having a relevant impact on the social environment of your Country. Only companies that already operating in the rural energy sector can apply to the program.

The application process for the GSBI begins January 4, (deadline  January 15) 2010 on www.socialedge.org.

The brochure of the program is available here.
