Mossi&Ghisolfi Group will build in Italy the first plants for semi-industrial production of second generation bioethanol. The announcement was given by Vice President Guido Ghisolfi in occasion of the 2nd Bio-Ethanol Conference "Second Generation Bioethanol: a realistic challenge", held on 4 March in Milan and  organised together with the Global Bioenergy Partnership. "It is with great satisfaction that we announce today our intention to build in Italy in 2010 the first european plant for semi-industrial production of second generation bioethanol", Guido Ghisolfi said. "The validity and importance of our research project (PRO.E.SA) ) on ethanol from biomass has been widely recognized by national and European institutions. The program has been selected as the largest Italian research project on bioethanol from lignocellulose within the Framework Programme of the European Community and one of the largest of Industry 2015", he added. Corrado Clini, Director General of the Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea, and Chair of the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) said: "Biofuels can play a major role in meeting the growing global demand for energy and in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Second-generation bioethanol, in particular, can provide sustainable energy without compromising neither food security nor environment."
