The full development of biofuels’ potential requires an effort to overcome environmental and social limits and the removal of trade barriers, which are hampering the development of a global market, according to a report by the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP). The potential conflict between biofuel production, environmental protection, sustainable development and food security of the rural poor need to be addresses urgently, says the report.
