USAID has partnered with the Government of Sweden, Duke Energy, OPIC, AfDB and USDA to create a program which seeks to address the development barriers at the critical nexus of energy and agriculture.  Powering Agriculture: An Energy Grand Challenge works to empower farmers in developing countries by offering them access to clean, renewable technologies at all points from farm to market.  These technologies can transform farms and farmers lives, allowing farmers to produce more and better quality food in less time, and allowing farmers to store food or make the foods they grow into higher value products.  This means more time for a farmer to spend with her family and more money for her to build her business.  Just as important, this means that she can help feed her community and her country.
