Climate Change Bill passes House Energy and Commerce Committee

23 May 09

Climate Change bill passes House Energy and Commerce Committee. Yesterday the House passed a landmark Climate Change and Energy bill in the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The bill now heads to Transportation, Agriculture and first Ways and Means.  The Democrats and Obama gave up a great deal to energy intensive coal and oil producing states, giving away 85% of the carbon credits for free and reducing the 2020 reduction target to 17$ down from 20%. The 2050 goal remains at the original target of an 85% reduction over 2005 levels.
