Corn biofuel dangerously oversold as green energy

18 Jul 07

According to a new biofuels review using corn-derived ethanol may be oversold as green energy. Scott Cullen of the Network for New Energy Choices (NNEC) said "There are smarter solutions than rushing straight to corn-based ethanol." 27% of the (US) country's entire corn crop for 2007 is set aside for biofuel production. Ethanol made from corn does not necessarily reduce green house gas emissions, however, cellulosic ethanol could reduce emissions.
