Renewable energy sources are witnessing an investment boom, from wind and biomass to solar and even geo-thermal energy, according to Ernest Monitz of the MIT of Boston. Corrado Clini, director general of the Ministry for the Environment, said that dedicating only a small portion of future energy investments on renewables could lead to a stabilisation of greenhouse-gas concentrations in the atmosphere. In the long term, bioenergy could play an important role, transforming the geography of trade relations, he said.
