Energy at the G20

With its presidency held by Indonesia, 2022’s G20 tackled global health architecture, digital transformation and sustainable energy transition.

The presidency of 2022’s G20 is held by Indonesia. Its three pillars span over global health architecture, digital transformation and sustainable energy transition. Under the latter priority, G20 member countries have joined with the aim to ease a sustainable energy transition and to create a platform for investment. Several encounters such as the Energy Transitions Working Group, the Environment Deputies and Climate Sustainability Working Group, served as a platform to discuss different themes including Securing Energy Accessibility, Increasing Smart & Clean Energy Technology, and Promoting Energy Financing.

In light of this key focus of the G20 on sustainable energy transition and further to the renewed G20 mandates that GBEP received in past years, GBEP will continue strengthening its international role as key initiative to facilitate a sustainable development of bioenergy as a contributor to energy transition.
