Future events

The next round of GBEP meetings will take place in Rome in November at FAO Headquarters:
•    ECOWAS-GBEP workshop on Bioenergy Resource Assessment and Mapping;
•    Seminar on “Sharing data and experience on the implementation of the GBEP indicators”;
•    Seminar on “Study Tour for capacity building and training”;
•    3rd meeting of the Working Group on Capacity Building; and
•    14th GBEP Steering Committee.

GBEP will also be present at the World Water Week to be held in Stockholm on 26-31 August 2012. Hosted and organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), the event takes place each year in Stockholm and is considered the focal point for the globe's water issues since 1991. Each year the World Water Week addresses a particular theme to enable a deeper examination of a specific water-related topic. While not all events during the week relate to the overall theme, the workshops driven by the Scientific Programme Committee and many seminars and side events do focus on various aspects of the theme, which for 2012 will be Water and Food Security. Full details are available here.

Past events

From the beginning of the year, GBEP has participated in a series of events relevant to its activities:

Last June GBEP participated in the World Forum on 'Fuel, Food and the Environment: The Bioenergy Challenge’, held in Milan on the occasion of the 20th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition. Full details of the Conference are available here.

The Conference on Sustainable Biomass for Electricity (SB4E), held on 2-4 May 2012 in Güssing (Austria), was organized by UN-Energy in cooperation with the Global Bioenergy Partnership and other partners. It provided a unique opportunity for governments, international organizations and the private sector to share their respective experiences and to join efforts towards a common understanding of SB4E and practical ways to achieve this.

Earlier this year, GBEP was present at a workshop in Trieste on lignocellulosic biofuels from agro-waste organized by ICS UNIDO, and in January at the 2012 edition of Fuels of the Future.

All GBEP presentations can be downloaded on the GBEP website.
