GBEP agenda for 2016


GBEP calendar of activities and events for 2016:

•    Spring 2016: Webinars on Bioenergy and Water

In the framework of the Activity Group 6 of the GBEP Working Group on Capacity Building, two webinars will be organized: one around February/March 2016 involving mainly experts from Europe, Africa and Asia; and another one around May 2016 involving mostly experts from the Americas.

•    Spring 2016 – Benin:  Workshop on Wood Energy Management

In the framework of the Activity Group 4 of the GBEP Working Group on Capacity Building activities, the event – to be co-organized with ECOWAS/ECREEE - will bring together experts on wood energy from government sector, environment and forestry, policy makers and representatives of the financial institutions, both public and private, as well as civil society organizations. These actors will share experiences valuable to facilitate a replication of the strategies and procedures that have proven effective in developing country contexts and similar to those reported in the GBEP stocktaking paper on wood energy management.
Additional success stories on wood energy management within the ECOWAS and other regions as well as those compiled by the GBEP Secretariat through a template circulated among the AG4 members and webinar participants will be presented and discussed during the meeting.

•    June 2016 :  4th Bioenergy Week focused on Eastern Europe and Central Asia

In the framework of the Activity Group 3 of the GBEP Working Group on Capacity Building activities, the fourth Bioenergy Week will take place in Europe and it will focus on issues of relevance to the Eastern European and Central Asian region. Following the ones held in Brazil in March 2013, in Mozambique in May 2014, and in Indonesia in 2015 the event will gather scientists, officials and other relevant stakeholders from all over the world and especially from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, with a view to learning from positive experiences in the sustainable production and use of bioenergy that could guide the design and implementation of bioenergy policies in the interested countries. It will also be the opportunity to continue a dialogue with private sector and stakeholders on ways to improve mutual cooperation towards a more sustainable production and use of bioenergy.

•    November/December 2016 - Rome (Italy): 19th GBEP Steering Committee, 14th Task Force on Sustainability and 8th GBEP Working Group on Capacity Building

Details on these GBEP meetings, to be hosted at FAO Headquarters, will be available on the GBEP website
