Looking ahead – GBEP in 2019

With the release of the Implementation Guide for the GBEP Sustainability Indicators (GSI) set for May 2019, GBEP has some exciting events planned for 2019 to disseminate this guidance. The IEA Bioenergy event in Utrecht on 23 May 2019, in collaboration with Biofuture Platform and Below50, provides an opportunity for these organisations to share their relative expertise. Furthermore, from 27-30 May 2019, GBEP will be attending the 27^th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) to be held in Lisbon, Portugal. With hundreds of organisations and companies set to attend, the GBEP Side Event offers a fantastic opportunity to provide visibility to the GSI and the new Implementation Guide.

After the extremely successful Bioenergy Week in Argentina in October 2018, the Study Tour on Capacity Building will continue its journey around the world, stopping in Asia in 2019. The Philippines have kindly offered to host the event, which will take place in Manila at the Philippine International Convention Center in the week of 24-28 June 2019 (exact dates to be confirmed). The Bioenergy Week will focus on themes of interest to Asia.

The 2019 GBEP Annual Meetings – including the 22^nd meeting of the Steering Committee, the 11^th meeting of the Working Group on Capacity Building, and the 17^th meeting of the Task Force on Sustainability – will take place in November 2019. These meetings provide an opportunity to review the 2019 work and plan for the new year ahead.
