	GLOBE legislators refine biofuel proposals for G8 Summit A group of legislators from G8 countries and major emerging economies have given themselves until the end of June to refine their recommendations on biofuels, which include sustainability criteria and measures to stimulate research and trade. 	Lack of understanding afflicts bioenergy policy, experts tell FAO Experts brought together by the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) expressed the need for better insight into the impact of biofuel policies and “urgent” further analysis into issues such as land use change, greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions and food security. 	Ten questions to be posed when assessing GHG savings The Global Bioenergy Partnership’s task force on harmonizing greenhouse-gas (GHG) methodologies is preparing a flowchart of questions that will help countries and institutions to calculate biofuels’ emissions savings. 	UK’s Brown urges G8 action against food inflation British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called for action by fellow G8 leaders, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the UN to urgently work together to lead the development of an international strategy to address the problem of surging food inflation, considering that a rapid expansion in biofuel production is aggravating the situation.
